An eight movement work for unaccompanied choir, Il Cantico del Sole sets the original Italian text of St. Francis’ magnificent Canticle of the Sun. Commissioned by the choirs of the Universities of Hawai’i, Kansas, Wyoming, and Virginia, Il Cantico explores the vernacular, exuberant intimacy of this classic poem. Several movements may be excerpted as individual pieces.
